Categories Tell Us Where the Story Belongs
It’s tempting to check every Lodge that happened to be mentioned, attended or photographed — but that’s not what categories are for.
A category should mean something.
Ask yourself:
“If someone visited this Lodge’s page, would they reasonably expect to find this story there?”
If the answer is yes, select it. If the Lodge is only mentioned in passing, leave it unchecked.
Why does this matter? Each Lodge category becomes its own ongoing collection of stories. Over time, those posts create a record of that Lodge’s activities, accomplishments, partnerships and involvement throughout the District.
Using categories thoughtfully keeps those collections meaningful instead of cluttered.
Categories = WHO
Tags = WHAT
Choose the Lodge or Lodges that truly own the story, add the appropriate tags to describe it, and you’re helping us create something bigger than a news feed — a useful, searchable history of WCCD #1240 and the Lodges that make it what it is.
Choose thoughtfully. Make your categories count.
